I want to first express Cybera’s appreciation for your continued support and participation in the AB ShareIT Program. The 2022-23 fiscal year saw a significant growth in both our shared procurement catalogue of offerings, as well as collaboration opportunities. Some highlights of the past year include:
- Four completed procurement projects:
- End User Computing Hardware v.2 – participating members: 25
- Networking Hardware v.2 – participating members: 15
- IT Services Roster Prequalification – participating members: 26
- Endpoint Detection & Response – participating members: 9
- Catalogue of offerings grew to 40 contracts
- ShareIT spend increased by 19%
- One new national collaboration with the Canadian University Council of CIOs (CUCCIO)
- AB PSI/CUCCIO Special Interest Groups (SIG) Pilot – participating members: 176
In the past year, ShareIT has brought together over 206 individuals in the education and higher education IT sector to share knowledge, build skills, and become a community. We can’t put a dollar value on this collaboration, however, it has become one of the most valued aspects of this member-owned and driven program.
During our member engagement outreach in 2022, we travelled over 4,160 km to visit 21 ShareIT member organizations. When we asked the question, “What do you value most about the ShareIT program?”, these were the top three responses:

Additions from January – March 31, 2023
End Point Detection Response
A three-year Master Agreement with ISA Cybersecurity was signed May 8, 2023 for the Endpoint Detection and Response solution developed by SentinelOne.
SentinelOne delivers autonomous, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning cybersecurity for the endpoints, data centres, and cloud environments of today’s enterprises. Their solutions enable attack prevention, detection, response, and remediation across all major vectors, and encompass these functions and services:
- Extended Detection Response (XDR)
- Endpoint Platform Protection (EPP)
- Cloud Workload Protection Platform (CWPP)
- Network Visibility & Control
- Optional security services to complement platform solutions

IT Services Roster
The IT Services Roster — ShareIT’s largest collaborative project to date — is now available to be leveraged by all Members.
ShareIT hosted an overview session on April 18, 2023 for members and their procurement teams. It covered the scope of services and how to tap into the roster with a second stage procurement initiative. Contract Renewals
Softchoice
This agreement with Adobe reseller and VIP Level 4 provider, Softchoice, was renewed for an additional three (3) years. This contract will expire in May 2026.

AVI-SPL
The Audiovisual Hardware agreement was renewed for an additional one (1) year and will expire in June 2024, with the option to renew.

Vulnerability Assessment (VA) & Penetration Testing v2
The current VA and Pen Testing Master Agreement with EWA Canada will end on October 29, 2023. A new shared procurement initiative was kicked off in April 2023, with 14 participating members opting in. This RFx will be developed over the summer and we are expecting to post for open competition in early August.
Servers & Storage
We have 10 participating members that have opted to work with Cybera in the development of this Servers and Storage RFx. A kick-off session for this project is expected to take place in mid-June.

Provincial Microsoft Licensing Update

Compugen and the Alberta Department of Education will present key updates to be aware of for provincial Microsoft licensing. They will also answer your questions and let you know what value-added resources are available to educational institutions.
