The House of Commons Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology is undertaking a study on Broadband Connectivity in Rural Canada. Cybera will be submitting a brief to the Committee.
We are inviting members, stakeholders and interested parties to share their experiences and input with us to incorporate into our submission. We believe this is an important opportunity to effect changes on how rural and remote connectivity is delivered — a very important topic for the future of Canada’s digital economy.
The committee’s primary focus is to develop a plan to improve rural connectivity, and demonstrate its impact on local rural economies, including community engagement. The committee will make recommendations that identify and address:
- What constitutes an acceptable high-speed service
- The financial challenges of implementing high-speed services
- The regulatory changes to encourage the implementation of high-speed services
Share your input with us by e-mailing policy@cybera.ca or by filling out this form by September 18, 2017.
